It’s been almost a decade and the Christian community has already been worried about the stagnance of gospel music in Northern Uganda. Even before covid, Christian music in northern Uganda already had its own pandemic characterized by no-shows, and prominent artists not releasing new music. etc.
Even with what seemed to be stagnance and silence in the ministry, there is a new breed of new and young talents that have made entry into the music industry with vigor. The ongoing Devout Gospel Awards has proved beyond reasonable doubt that there is hope for Christian Music.
During the talk show on Voice of the Gospel, a Christian radio station in Lira City the new kid on the block TxEima gave the assurance to the listeners that a lot is in store for the Christian community and people who need to listen to the Gospel Music. During this same interview, he made it clear that with the new talents in ministry, even the sky is not the limit. He, however, acknowledged that there are challenges that Christian artists are dealing with such as poor branding, and lack of support from the stakeholders among others which hinder the growth of Music Ministry.
On the same note, Sam Moi who was hosted in the same interview assured the listeners that there is a new ray of hope with the involvement of new players in the ministry. He also acknowledges the need for personal growth among Christian artists to ensure improved quality in production.
Much as there have not been Music Shows for Christian Artists, on the 30th of October 2022 Sister Nancy kicked off her music tour for one of her popular singles “Wan Otye Iweno”. According to Sister Nancy, she feels it’s time for gospel music to rise above limitations that have been set forth by the circumstances hindering the growth of Christian Music.
